Since 2010, we have been a leader in the martial arts field in the US. We have produced top USA national team members as well as national and international champions. Throughout the years, we have helped countless students achieve their goals and dreams through martial arts. We believe that martial arts is a powerful tool to develop physical and mental strength and above all character.
Our students graduate from here and attend Harvard, UC Berkeley, Rice, Cornell, and other top Ivy League schools.

Director
Ms. Bonnie
Miss Bonnie Fu Yuk Ching was born in Hong Kong, she began her career as a trainee in TVB, the largest TV station in Hong Kong. After being cast in many small roles in Hong Kong TV series, she landed her first major role as a TV talk show host of the highest rated talk shows called "K-100". Ms. Bonnie rose in prominence and was soon known as the Oprah of Hong Kong talk shows.
Soon after, she went from leading her own talk show to leading roles in different TV series starring next to Andy Lau Tak Wah, Chow Yun Fat and other well-known actors.
Later in her career, she challened herself by transitioning from acting in TV shows to films, in which she received recognition for her captivating performances, playing a wide range of characters which solidified her status as a serious actress.
When filming a movie in China, she met her now-husband Andrew Ho, a world-acclaimed Wushu artist and 6 time US Champion and they started Phoenix Wushu Academy together.
Bonnie has a love for performing and martial arts. Her mission is to pass on her expertise and knowledge to her students and to uplift a new generation of martial artists that are both professional and skilled actors as well.
Grandmaster
Master Ho
Master Ho has always loved martial arts since he was a child. At the age of 2, he saw his first Kung Fu movie and was fascinated by how a human can move with such precision and speed. From there, his passion for exploring martial arts has never ceased.
At the age of 8, he started to learn the Yang Style Taiji Quan and later turned to studying Tae Kwon Do. Despite earning his black belt at the age of 14, it still did not seem to resemble to him what he saw in the movies when he was child. That was when he decided to start explore Chinese Martial Arts. He then traveled to Taiwan to practice Kuoshu, Xing Yi Quan and Taiji Quan. He fell in love with Chinese Martial Arts and realized that his was his true passion.
Master Ho then decided to further his studies in Beijing, China and trained with the prestigious Beijing Wushu Team from 1983 - 1990. Under the tutelage of the Grandmaster Wubin, the legendary coach of the undefeated Beijing Wushu Team from 1986 - 1992, Master Ho became a six consecutive time US National champion from 1986 - 1991.
He made history and became the first athlete in the US to medal in the First World Wushu Championships hosted in Beijing in 1991.
After reaching the apex of his career in Wushu, Master Ho branched out into the movie industry when he was noticed by talent scouts from Hong Kong. He then traveled to Wuzhou, China to make action films and there he met Bonnie Fu, his future wife.
In 1993, they married and shortly afterwards they moved to the US. Joined together by their passion for Wushu and performing arts, they decided to open Phoenix Wushu Academy in 2010 to provide a place to nurture and inspire people of all ages to discover and learn more about Wushu and Chinese cultural arts.
Head Coach
Jane Ho
Jane Ho is an expert martial artist, coach, and actress. She has won numerous titles in the straight sword, spear, and Taijiquan in the US. She was the Female Adult Grand Champion for the 2016 Golden State International Wushu Championships as well as a US Traditional Wushu Team member from 2015-2017.
She is the youngest person to be certified by the International Wushu Federation as a Pan-American Wushu Judge and has served as a judge for the US National Wushu Team Trials and Pan-American Wushu Championships numerous times. She is also the first and only certified US Female Sanda Judge. In 2023, Jane Ho made history by becoming one of the first 50 Wing Chun Judges to be certified as a PAWF (Pan American Wushu Federation) Level judge in the world.
Jane Ho is an award-winning coach. Under her guidance, several of her Wushu students have qualified for the US Team and competed internationally representing the US in World Championships and also Pan-American championships. Jane Ho was also the US Wushu Taolu Team Assistant Coach for the Pan American Wushu Championships 2022.
Jane Ho is also an actress and producer with experience in both theater and films. She played the title character in the critically acclaimed Mulan and Dynasty theater productions at the Orpheum Theater from 2012-2018. Jane Ho has also starred in numerous short films as well as movie trailers produced in mainland China.
Her work has been featured in CBS 5, East Valley Tribune, ABC 15, Yes Magazine, 1 Next Weekly, and many more publications.
Jane Ho is currently the host of the largest Chinese Martial Arts tournament in the US called the Phoenix Wushu Nationals. Her passion and mission are to promote and develop the growth of Wushu and Chinese culture in the United States.
Wushu Coach
Michael Bonit
Michael began his Wushu journey with Master Ho back in 2008. Michael has had the privilege of competing in ICMAC, and CMAT on several occasions and has earned several Gold and Silver Medals in Broadsword, Longfist, Tai Chi, and other events.
Michael loves to practice Wushu, even in his free time, especially Tai Chi and weapons. Additionally, he has been a longtime fitness guru and certified personal trainer (NASM, NFPT). He has learned self-defense: JKD and Kali from Master Ho, and enjoys teaching the practical applications of traditional Wushu. During his time in the Military, he had the opportunity to further study arts such as Wing Chun, and Eskrima. He truly enjoys learning and teaching others new skills.

Daniel Molina-Murrieta
Daniel is a coach at Phoenix Wushu Academy who has a passion for working with kids. His experience as the oldest sibling in his household has given him the skills to nurture and guide the children in his care.
During his time at Phoenix Wushu Academy, he has shown great enthusiasm, integrity, and patience when working with his students. His coaching abilities have resulted in his student's fast learning and commitment to wushu.
Starting with Taekwondo then moving to Karate and finally Wushu, martial arts and their values have always played an important role in Coach Daniel's life. Even though he has experience in multiple martial arts, Wushu has by far been his favorite due to its technical, flexibility, and strength requirements.
Coach Daniel's main strengths are being able to be patient, loving, and caring towards his students. His connection to his students, especially the younger Little Phoenix class, has left an impact on both him and the kids he teaches.
Coach Daniel chose Phoenix Wushu Academy due to the vast knowledge, wisdom, and kindness shown to him by Master Ho, Mrs. Bonnie, Coach Jane, and the other coaches working at the school. Their skills and knowledge have left an imprint on Coach Daniel, which has been the leading cause for him to become a coach of the school.
Overall, Coach Daniel is a valued member of Phoenix Wushu Academy due to his ability to resonate with his students with his patience, coaching abilities, and Wushu experience.
Coach Daniel will continue to teach at Phoenix Wushu Academy with enthusiasm for years to come and wish everyone to 加油!

Jayden Vu
Jayden Vu is an individual who is deeply passionate about martial arts and dedicated to creating memorable experiences. Guided by the belief that personal growth and a positive atmosphere go hand in hand, he brings a unique blend of martial arts, enthusiasm, and a welcoming spirit. Jayden's strong work ethic positions him as a tenacious problem-solver and a positive role model for others. Patience with others makes him an effective team player and contributor to a supportive community.
For Jayden, Wushu is more than a sport – it is a personal journey of empowerment, growth, and inspiration. Wushu has instilled in him qualities such as resilience, focus, and an unceasing drive for self-improvement. With a Wushu journey spanning just over 2 years, Jayden embodies steadfast commitment and continuous improvement in mastering the art's intricate moves. This is seen through his performance at ICMAC accomplishing three gold medals and several more at Phoenix Wushu Nationals.
Jayden’s goal is to make it onto the USA National Team in the 2025 Adult Team Trials. He is working really hard towards this short term goal leading up to a bigger dream; this is medaling at an international championship such as the World Wushu Championships, The Olympics, or The World Games.
What drew Jayden to Phoenix Wushu Academy? A shared passion for martial arts presented in an engaging and innovative way. The academy's principles align seamlessly with Jayden's values, emphasizing focus, discipline, respect, honor and the sense of belonging to a supportive community.

Chinese Director
Hongmei Duan/May
Hongmei Duan also known as May is from China and has passed the teaching certificate examination at the State of Arizona in the US. Her educational experience is as follows:
Bachelor of Science in Education Studies: Grand Canyon University (2023)
Certificate in Elementary Education (AA): Mesa Community College (2017)
Bachelor of Science: Political Science, Henan University – in China (1987)
May has a vast amount of experience in teaching from kindergarten to university education in China. As a teacher and administrator, she used to work at Hangzhou New Oriental School in China and AFM Chandler Montessori School in the US. She was responsible for teaching program design, teaching, teaching process monitoring, and teaching results evaluation both in Chinese and English. With rich teaching experiences, she has gained a deeper comprehension of the differences between the education systems in China and the US, and a profundity of understanding the advantages and disadvantages of each system. She is also familiar with the Montessori education system. May has a huge passion for teaching which shows in her teaching method and high-energy classes that are loved by all her students. She can skillfully teach Chinese, English, Math, Singing, and Dancing and her goal is to help all her students achieve their goals.
Dance Director
Summer Kong
Summer (Zijia Kong) is the Director of Dance Department at Phoenix Wushu Academy. She has master’s degree in dance at Arizona State University and she has 22 years of dance training. She has passion for building strength to improve life as a dancer and for everyday life.
Her work has been recognized nationally and internationally for its creativity and versatility, Summer’s performances have been covered by U.S. and Chinese media publications, including USA Phoenix News, Yes Magazine, and Phoenix Art: AMPLIFIED.
In recent years, Summer performed across many prestigious venues and possessing a uniquely wide skillset across many technically challenging styles of dance. Summer has performed as a soloist and within elite ensembles on some of the world’s most important venues for both visual and performing arts, such as The Herberger Theater Center, Mesa Arts Center, Nelson Fine Arts Center, Margaret Gisolo Theatre, Phoenix Art Museum, Chandler Center for the Arts, The Trunk Space, Edge Hill University and Tempe Center for the Arts. She is constantly in demand to perform across the United States, United Kingdom, and China, she collaborated with some of the most exciting dance troupes and companies in the world, participated large-scale performances, including the opening and closing ceremonies of the 12th China National Games in 2013, the 19th French Language Festival (19ème Fête de la francophonie en Chine) in 2014.
She also won many dance competitions in China, including the Honorable Choreography Prize and First Prize of ‘Lu Yi Cup’. Summer taught all levels of Chinese Classical dance, Folk dance, Ballet, Jazz and Modern dance for 7 years. Summer loves to teach and has truly found her passion with Phoenix Wushu Academy. She is really looking forward to meeting new people, making friends, and sharing her passion of dance with you.
